life is so beautiful, it almost seems real.

oh life, it is ever so complicated and oh so beautiful. i've been trying to find my balance of happiness lately, which is a constant battle (for most of us i think). I saw this movie called carmina o revienta the other day, and just loved the quote "life is so beautiful it almost seems real." it's funny, because my friend who i saw it with remembered the quote too. even in the thick of it, there's moments when you look around and the world seems to sparkle a little bit. those moments change everything.

i wore this to matt's moms birthday dinner. a yummy meal, indeed! it's hard for me to get fancy, but here is my greatest attempt :) i am going to sleep now, even though it is still light outside because this week my alarm is set to 5am for most days! g'night!

sweet healthy treats i bake weekly ❤

so, i have a confession to make... i am not domestic. one of my biggest flaws as a partner is my lack of knowledge in the kitchen. for the past few years i was one of those people who lived off of 90 calorie bars, healthy choice soups with way too much sodium, and cereal for dinner. it kept me breathing (obviously) but i am pretty positive it was bad for my body and also for my mental health. recently i decided to turn a new leaf, plan ahead, and try to prepare quick and easy HEALTHY things, with ingredients i have heard of. here is one of my new favorite staples to grab on the way out in the morning for breakfast. i am going to try to share a new domestic thing each week, more to force myself to keep doing them :)

fruit and oat bars.

1.5 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup strawberries chopped
1/2 cup apple chopped
1 tsp cinnamon
1/3 cup honey
2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

♥ preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a cupcake pan with non-stock spray
♥ combine oats, strawberries, apple and cinnamon
♥ whisk together honey, almond milk and vanilla
♥ pour wet mixture into dry mixture until well combined
♥ bake 40-45 minutes until golden brown. let cool and refrigerate until firm.

sunny mustard mornings ☀☀

my favorite part about being up north is that in the early morning, the sun looks different. it is warmer feeling-- like the world is tinted yellow-- but the air is cooler. and when you sip your hot coffee, you can feel it saturating your body. hopefully one day when i move back to NY or somewhere else where there is a chill in the air, i can enjoy these kind of mornings every day on my patio in my cozy sweaters. *dreams*

i thrifted this sweater on our trip to savannah to camp in, and although it's already too hot in Florida to wear it, i know it will be a winter staple. the color is so vibrant, and if we're being honest, i am a mustard addict. i've always been one to tuck in my blouse and never wear things too oversized, but lately i have been enjoying how comfy/casual it is to throw on a big sweater over a mini skirt.
